The Power of Colours

Good day, readers!
This is Lolol’s Bhealthy.Bgood segment again. For those yang tengah cuti sekarang, I hope you’re enjoying your holidays. And for those yang sedang berjuang di fakulti, chaiyok2!!

“A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night, and in between he does what he wants to do.” –Bob Dylan

Okay, back to our original topic today - The Power Of Colours. Have anyone heard of chromotherapy? Well, even if you never heard of it, I bet you can guess what it is. The term chromo come from a Greek word, which mean colours. So, chromotherapy is also known as colour therapy. It’s one of a complementary medicine method.

It was started one thousand years ago, when Ibn Sina discussed about chromotherapy in his book, The Canon of Medicine. He wrote that "Color is an observable symptom of disease". His view was that red moved the blood, blue or white cooled it, and yellow reduced muscular pain and inflammation. Since then, many researches about chromotherapy were done. It’s a lot! LOL x) But here is what I got.

Okay, actually by using the colours of the light spectrum, chromotherapy balance and enhance our body's energy centres (chakras) which can stimulate our body's own healing process. See? Bukan dalam badan Naruto jer yang ada chakra-chakra ni. Kita pun ada u’olls. Hehe

There are 7 main chakra colours basically. They are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Below are possible health benefits of the colours that are used in chromotherapy:

Red
Improve blood circulation and nervous system.

Orange
Orange stimulates the lungs, the respiration and the digestion. Increases the activity of the thyroid. Reliefs muscle cramps and spasms.

Yellow
Strengthen the nervous system.

Green
Preserves and strengthen eyesight.

Blue
Nourishes our throat region and acts as pain reliever.

Indigo
Exerts a soothing effect on the eyes, ears and the nervous system.

Violet
Benefits the nerves and lymphatic system. Helps to heal infections and inflammations.

Actually there are lots more benefits of these colours. In fact, apart from these 7 colours, there are other colours that give many benefits as well. You can find it yourself at google if you’re curious about it. Hehe ;p
In addition, it is also good for your health to eat colourful fruits and vegetables. Different colours have different natural plant pigments. And different pigments give different benefits.
